Freemans Restaurant

Freeman2Freeman1Freeman4Freeman3

Thursday we had dinner at Freemans. A trendy but cosy Restaurant on Lower Eastside. The Restaurants is specialized in seasonal rustic american cuisine.  The menu features wild game, sustainable seafood, and produce from local new york state farms. Freemans is also known for their cocktails.
We had a lovely artichoke dip and very fresh salds as starters. For main course we had a lovely grilled trout.
If you have something to discuss don't go there - it's very loud ;-)

Co

A very nice shop in Soho. Beside their own brand, opening ceremony, they have a good selection of brands.
Like a high-fashion version of a cultural-exchange program, Opening Ceremony features fashions from a different country each year, with Brazil, Germany, and the UK dominating recent racks.
They also have a selection of Hello Kitty Toy Machines!

Blue Hill New York

If you want to eat some truly outstanding food go to Blue Hill.
They have to restaurants, one in New York and one where they have their farm, in pocantico hills, some 40 minutes out of town.

"with Dan Barber, chef and proprietor of Blue Hill in Manhattan and Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills. Stone Barns is only 45 minutes from Manhattan, but it might as well be a whole different universe. A model of self sufficiency and environmental responsibility, Stone Barns is a working farm, ranch, and a three-michelin-star-worthy restaurant. (Note to Michelin: limiting your guide to the five boroughs means you've missed out on perhaps the most interesting and unique restaurant in all of New York.)

Dan's commitment to the environment is well known, but he is hardly a die-hard radical. He is a businessman determined to find a way to be both environmentally and economically sustainable - now that's the way of the future."

We actually wanted to go to Blue Hill farm but then we were running out of time and decided to go to the one on washington place.

Let me tell you we ate the most outstanding food.

Schiller's Liquor Bar

Schiller's is a very nice restaurant in the Lower East Side. The perfect place for a brunch, a lunch, or just a latte and some good newspapers (they offer a very wide selection of nice magazines and newspapers).
It looks like an old butchery or so. We had a lovely tuna burger and a Guinness - nice!

A visit at urban outfitters

Urban Outfitters in New York is not my type of shop. Very american fashion with to many colors and  patterns for my taste.
But what you see all over the world is the Minetonkas :-)
Watch out we will have them is stock too.

Honey in the Rough

Picture 17-1

An other nice shop is "Honey in the Rough" on Rivington in Lower east side.

Owner and makeup artist Ashley Hanosh's boutique is dedicated to cute dresses with bohemian appeal. Exposed brick and dark wooden details provide a warm atmosphere for perusing racks of fabulous frocks from all over the globe, plus pieces from local designers like Samantha Pleet and Mociun.
Lot's of colors and silk, don't expect to find any bargains there though.

Balthazar

This is the place to go for a hang over brunch (it's quite noisy though ). In this traditional french restaurant you can everything from a seafood platter to a soft boiled organic egg. Bread and pastries (croissant, scones, pain au chocolate and so on) come from the beautiful next door balthazar bakery.

It's quite packed and sometimes you have to queue for a table.
It's also a go place for homesick europeans, c'est tres francaise.

"Balthazar serves traditional bistro meals from breakfast through late-night supper. Opened by Keith McNally in the spring of 1997, Balthazar offers a French menu prepared by chefs de cuisine Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson. Diners can also choose from an extensive wine list, a raw seafood bar, and breads and pastries from Balthazar bakery.
Balthazar is renowned for its exceptional design. The building was converted from a leather wholesaler's warehouse to an airy space that can accommodate over 200 people in the dining room and at the zinc bar. "

Murray's Cheese

What I really like about New York is the Food. You can find so nice jewish delis, fantastic food shops and outstanding restaurants.
Murray's Cheese is one of them it is located in Greenwich Village next to a lovely Bakery called Hells Kitchen.
If you fancy a pick-nick in the park fill your basket here.

But cheese heads tend to zero in on the 250-strong selection from all over the world, from olive oil-aged Manchego from Spain to runny mixed milks from Italy. All manner of ash-covered, leaf-wrapped, raw milks, and blue varieties are here, and if it becomes a tad overwhelming, the knowledgeable counter staff is at your disposal, along with the sleek classroom, which holds frequent workshops.

BBlessing

There were not so many fashion shops I liked on my recent New York trip. One I liked a lot was Bblessing.
If I was I men I would shop here.

 Images Bblessing-Ny

Established in April 2006, BBlessing is a boutique dedicated to redefining the retail experience as it pertains to modern life. BBlessing features a unique, tightly edited selection of bleeding edge men's fashion, art, music, literature and film, all in a constantly evolving environment designed by Daniel Jackson, founding member of the renowned art collective Surface To Air.

Inspiration for the BBlessing design environment was born of a turn-of-the-century Parisian absinthe bar, transported to the Pacific Northwest by way of the Lower East Side. BBlessing aims to impart a sense of luxury, but with wit, in a whimsical and engaging fashion. The boutique features an array of both young and established menswear designers from New York, Japan and Europe including Raf Simons, Preen, Rag & Bone, Adam Kimmel, Giacometti, Patrik Ervell and Surface To Air as well as its signature BBlessing collection. In addition, BBlessing offers a tightly curated selection of film, music, literature and objets d'art.
