JDS Architects and Muuto

I came across MUUTO in copenhagen first. There I saw their Norway says lamp and did not buy it. But then I could not stop thinking of it and ordered it when I was back home. It's utterly beautiful and affordable.

Muuto

True to its name, inspired by the Finnish word for change, “muutos”, the Danish Muuto wants to turn a new page in the history of Scandinavian design, bringing it back to the world map of design. Muuto picks the best new Nordic designers, Harri Koskinen, Louise Campbell and Norway Says, to name a few, and trusts them with the mission to create new and clever takes on everyday objects that will make you go “why didn’t I think of that?”. Muuto’s products represent the essence of modern Scandinavian design by combining aesthetics and functionality with a new perspective.

This summer I came across an other of their products. The Stacked shelf system by JDS . It's a fantastic concept and exactly what I have been looking for for ages.

Staked

Here what they have to say about it: "Shelving systems tend to achieve either one or the other concern, but never both. We decided to dimension shelving units based on the generic measurement of the things they store and display while allowing for them to be combined according to specific needs and requirements.  The result can be a random stack of boxes or a coordinated grid of efficient storage….or both!"

I studies their work and I really liked what I saw . Very inspiring.

JDS Architects is a multi-disciplinary office that focuses on architecture and design, from large scale planning to furniture. Rich with multiple expertises, our office is fuelled by talented designers and experienced architects that jointly develop projects from early sketches to on-site supervision. All of which, regardless of scale, outlines an approach that is affirmatively social in its outcome, enthusiastic in its ambition and professional in its process. Our approach aims at turning intense research and analysis of practical and theoretical issues into the driving forces of our design. By continuously developing rigorous methods of analysis and execution, JDS Architects is able to combine innovative thinking and efficient production.

My house?

I just read that this house is for sale:

 Images Ferrishouse

 Images Ferrishome2

Architects A. James Speyer and David Haid built the structures on steel beams, creating a Jetson-like pod above the ground. The home also has stunning panoramic views, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls spanning 5,300 square feet.

Image you would live like this. A true master pice. If I would live in Chicago and had the money I would by it.

Hella Jongerius for Camper shoes

If you read this blog regularly you know I'm a huge fan of Hella Jongerius. So I was really happy to see that she did a collection for Camper Shoes.

"When Camper asked me whether I would like to design a new shop for them, or a new shoe, I didn't have to think much about it," says Jongerius. "I'm not a shoe designer, many designers before me have done an excellent job in defining all the intricate parts and detailing of a shoe, but being somebody with an eye for beautiful shoes I was intrigued by the challenge. So I decided to continue where the former shoe designers of Camper stopped. To be able to lean on their expertise, stand on their shoulders, so to speak, and work with the existing icons from the Camper archives, was a great opportunity for me."

She chose four existing shoes from Camper's archive, Pelotas, Imar, Peu and Brothers. While the styles needed no changes, improvements or reinterpretations, Jongerius highlighted their most defining features. The result of this process consists of two shoe collections, winter 2010 and summer 2010, which are a true homage to the icons of the Spanish company.

We will sell some of the shoes in our Camper shop this winter.

Alvar Aalto’s architecture is part of the history of international modern architecture. As early as 1941, the Swiss architectural historian Siegfried Giedion placed Aalto’s extensive body of work in an important position in his book on the history of architecture in the twentieth century, Space, Time and Architecture.

Alvar Aalto’s ability to synthesise rationalist architecture with an organic language of form, and his way of combining materials and making the landscape part of the building are unique. Aalto’s architecture is still discussed by students and lovers of architecture all over the world.

Most of Alvar Aalto’s architecture is situated in Finland, far away from the metropolises of Europe. His work has been published widely in a great many books and it is possible to visit many of the buildings and their surroundings

Arena jewellery - just beautiful

ARENA CPH was established in 2004 and is a team of Denmark’s most talented fashion jewellery designers joined together in an innovative and creative forum where fashion jewellery is designed collectively for distribution through leading international fashion stores.

Their creative concept is based on the belief that alone one is strong but together new and even more interesting designs evolve. The designers’ individual approach to design and fashion is not limited by a common stylistic benchmark; on the contrary, their particular style is developed and challenged within ARENA CPH. The interplay between the individual and the group ensures that ARENA CPH’s style is dynamic and in constant development.

Arena’s jewellery is mainly made from sterling silver and sterling silver gold plated with 18-carat gold. Within the collection there is a main and a classic line, each of which reflect different lifestyles and styles. There is a common thread running throughout the whole collection but its variety makes it suitable for complementing a variety of different fashion expressions. The designs are innovative, untraditional and appeal to the demanding fashion customer, always ahead of time and trends. The styles range from classic and modern to raw and fashion-forward.

Each designer brings his or her own inspiration into the group.
