Kawasaki Sneakers

R0027845-1R0027846

The history started in 1972, when the newly founded company J. Hammergaard Hansen Sport A/S was looking for a shoe, which was suitable for badminton. The shoes are exclusively made of natural products – rubber – cotton and suède – added heat and the Kawasaki name.  The Kawasaki could rightfully be asserted to be “ecological”.  These shoes are amazingly comfortable.
By the way,  have nothing to do with the Japanese motorbike producer.

"This is the story of the dull communist shoe, which was invented by a Danish company and later marketed to become the best selling single shoe ever in Denmark.

By staying loyal to the core values of the shoe both when it comes to production and design, we have been able to carry the shoes over as a true retro product. Production is in fact done on the same premises and with exactly the same machinery, as when it all started 35 years ago. The use of all natural products with production only in Europe are feats liked by the trade as well as of consumers. Staying loyal to design does not mean that design has not changed. From being produced in black and white only, Kawasaki is now available in a wide range of colors and styles.

buying MORE STUFF with nina!

dressed up (or down?)like always i ran into a guy who classified me immeadeatly into
hip-hop culture-- o.k. (my brain started working and thoughts that never entered my conscious before popped up with a lot of hmmmm and ???? and ??!!)

because: my hip-hop knowledge comes down to three things: snoop dogg-  rza /gza--- rza/gza living in one house documented on mtv 3 years ago. ( there are informations you just get- safe and you can NEVER delete)

so of course i took this guy very serious and thought maybe this could be a great and interesting new influnce in my wardrobe and fill maybe a missing link!
because sneakers are essential to that direction ( i own not one pair!!), i had to buy the incredible classic "nike-fin-star-mid-blanche", ( plus a nasty piece called the "saint honoré"),

Onitsukatiger FABRE designed by KOIKLUB

This is the second sneaker collection that Koi Klub Berlin made for Onitsuka Tiger. They are called Big Koi because large chenille letter on the left heel says “古意Koi” in Japanese which means “ancient ways” or “old ways”. The material concept of the shoes is “varsity Jacket”. So thick wool, leather and chenille letters are used for these shoes. We love the way how this Chenille letter “古意koi” and “02”, the year Koi Klub was founded, appears to the person behind you when you go up stairs. They also come with all over printing shoelaces that says other meanings of Koi in Japanese. They are 鯉 carp、濃い intensive恋falling in love、来い come here、故意 purposefully. This diversity in meaning stands for the idea of Koi Klub. A meeting point for people of different backgrounds and origin. Place where thoughts and creations can be exchanged. World where is inspiring, cool and weird at the same time.

These shoes are very limited, 500 pairs per colour worldwide.
We have 8 pairs per colour here in our Shop.
The grey one we sell exclusively through our e-shop.

Big-Koi-

"Onitsukatiger FABRE designed by KOIKLUB"

KOI KLUB is a monthly club event in Berlin, promoted by organizer Yoske Nishiumi since  2002.
KOI KLUB  was originally created by Nishiumi to bring together a circle of friends and to give them all a platform on which to display their various talents and activities. KOI KLUB is based on the concept of the diverse meanings of the word 'Koi' in the Japanese language, with the club setting out to embrace the diversity of people, music, and artists interventions and their works.

DJs such as  Fumiya Tanaka (Japan), Pole (Germany), and Daniel Wang (USA) have all played sets at the club. Live acts have been performed from Momus (UK), John Tejada (USA), Kangding Ray (France) and Lambent (Japan). The Berlin based VJ group Jutojo have continuously supplied the live visuals. Each edition of the club has a changing artwork that is created by Zen Yoshimoto. Yoshimoto's detailed models interpret the Koi fish in a fresh way for each club event and have become a curious focal point for people visiting the lounge.Parallel to each Koi Klub, the black and white copy fanzine: KOI MAG is produced and given away for free in various shops to advertise the club. More than a flyer, Nishiumi carefully invites friends, designers and artists to give the pages of the KOI MAG different flavours and interests, from Japanese cooking to drawings, artworks, photo diaries from Berlin, Tokyo, Hawaii, New York, Barcelona and Milan. The now famous covers have always been commissioned from Berlin designers,Metrofarm.

Sneak like a panther by Nina Braun

From Dr. J's von Converse, to the first Air Jordans and Dunks from Nike to
Adidas' Superstar and Airwalk Vic, then Etnies' Rap and back again to Pony #1.
Puschen for the cosy generation!

When in 2004, german artist Nina Braun left the streetwear-company SUMO, which the skateboarder started in 1998 to set a contrast to the all-male-dominated skater world, she re-focused on her art, taking the imagery she created for clothes and accompanying street art and grafittis for six years onto canvases and into the galleries.
Allthough being an extremely talented painter, working on perfectly painted acryllics, she quickly began to re-think her materials, and started developing her own, unique technique: instead of paint she used wool and stitched the first street-art-tapestries based on her cuddly, cartoony character world. This new technique reverses the "traditional" street art-approach of quick skeches, drawings and statements - in order to finish even smaller scale tapestries, Nina Braun works for several weeks or even months with needle and thread.
In her most recent show at the Galerie Heliumcowboy artspace in Hamburg, Nina took all vital elements of her past and her traditional craftmanship onto a new level: by creating exact replicas of world famous classic sneakers from wool and felt. In "Sneak like a panther - Puschen for the cozy generation", Nina subtly questions status symbols of the HipHop-, Fashion- and Skater-community, but on a highly humourous level: Nina Brauns' sneakers could be used as slippers, cozy and comfy for keeping your feet warm at home ... (thus the subtitle "Puschen", the german equivalent for "slippers").
